DuPont Filament’s core values of improvement, opening the door for further growth opportunities
DuPont Filaments, based in Washington WV (with facilities in the Netherlands and China) develops and manufactures engineered filaments for Medical, Cosmetic, Industrial, and Paint Deposition industries. They are the industry leader in these segments with globally familiar brands like Tynex, Nutrafil, Helox, Kulex, and Orel. DuPont Filaments strongly believes in innovation and growth, and do so by designing, manufacturing, operating, and maintaining their own equipment. The DuPont Filament business has evolved and grown for the past 85 years, leading to their next step of re-implementing IFS Applications from version 2004 to version 10. Stepping into usage of a majority of features and functions within IFS Applications 10 aligned with one of DuPont Filament’s core values of improvement, opening the door for further growth opportunities.
There are several driving factors in DuPont Filament’s ROI for a Re-Implementation of IFS Applications. Number one was Risk. IFS Applications 2004 is a 20-year-old version of IFS and it has been sunset for many years. Uplifting the business to IFS Applications 10 (the current version of IFS at the start of the project) helped to eliminate that risk in both terms of technical currency and security elements. A second factor was to eliminate as many code line Modifications as possible utilizing the core Application, a way to future proof the use of IFS and reduce the cost of staying current. A third factor was to take advantage of the newest features and functions of IFS, including UI, to improve both efficiencies and automate processes. This also reduced the number of “offline” silos of information, making IFS Applications 10 truly one version of the truth.
This was a very challenging project for DuPont Filaments, with facilities on three continents. Strong Leadership by the Project Lead helped to keep all facilities aligned and engaged. Enterprise supported this as well by our willingness to work non-US work hours to engage with both the DuPont Teams in the Netherlands and China. With the completion of the Re-Implementation, DuPont Filaments is now truly ready for whatever comes in 2022 and beyond.
